Maple Leafs to honor No. 17 for Clark (PA SportsTicker)

The Toronto Maple Leafs will "honor" the No. 17 of former left wing Wendel Clark prior to Saturday's game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Maple Leafs Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

All eyes are on Vesa Toskala these days as the Maple Leafs try to steer through their first goaltending crisis since he came aboard 14 months ago.

Toskala's work had been sub-par before Monday night's 3-2 loss to Boston. He had a 3.24 goals-against average and .878 save percentage, both uncharacteristic compared to his career numbers. He gave up two goals on his first eight shots against Boston and three on 14, the last a backbreaker from Michael Ryder when he dropped down too early.

"He has to realize he hasn't played well," coach Ron Wilson said. "That first goal was obviously stoppable. They aren't good numbers, but the positive is we're taking (Tuesday) off and then three days until we play again (Saturday against Chicago) to get him where he needs to be."

Please explain why Jeff Finger gets $14 million four year contract!

Please explain why Jeff Finger gets $14 million four year contract! Ok folks the July 1st Free Agents Frenzy went as expected. I will only comment on the Toronto Maple Leafs signings. I agree with the Niklas Hagman signing - 12 million 4 year deal. Seems fair to me as he is somewhat of an adequate offensive player. Here are his stats last year with the Dallas Stars: 27 goals, 14 assists, 41 points. I think the Curtis Joseph signing is a Status Quo signing. I am willing to forgive Cujo for his… Continue

What kind of team are the Toronto Maple Leafs building at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft?

I am wondering what the Leafs are building here The thoughts that come to mind is maybe they are trying to build a tough team like Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins, or hold on to your hat, the Anaheim Ducks. Sort of like the style that Brian Burke would build. Is there another Brian Burke connection? Here is a look at the players that the Toronto Maple Leafs drafted in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft: 1. D—Luke Schenn Team: Kelowna Rockets (Western Hockey League) 2007-08 Stats: 57 GP – 7 G – 21 A –… Continue

Leafs sign Ron Wilson as Coach before signing GM

Leafs sign Ron Wilson as Coach before signing GM. What do you think of the lastest developments of the Toronto Maple Leafs? What do you think of Ron Wilson as a coach? My opinion is there were other options to hire as a coach. For one I felt Greg Gilbert (coach of Toronto Marlies AHL) should have been given a shot at the Leaf coaching job. Or give John Anderson (Coach of Chicago Wolves AHL) a chance as the Leaf coach. During the NHL playoffs Don Cherry on 'Coaches Corner' said the reason John… Continue

Paul Maurice Fired - here are my thoughts

So how do you people feel about Paul Maurice being fired today? Personally I do not agree with the firing After all the way I interpret everything the Maple Leafs are going to clear house of all the older guys, except maybe Sundin; and make trades for draft pics, and in last option buyout these older players contracts. In a nutshell they are going to start from scratch and rebuild in a 5 year plan when all the draft pics develop So why fire Maurice? Dont make sense to me They should have let… Continue
